📚 Book of February 📚

February’s book is Dr. David Berceli’s “The Revolutionary Trauma Release Process – Transend Your Toughes Times” (2008). Book is the first one about trauma, tension and stress release exercises (TRE®).

In many cultures tremoring and crying are often considered socially embarrassing, even though they are natural ways for the body to release physical, mental, and emotional stress. This stress may have accumulated over time or happened recently, and stressful situations can occur both at work and elsewhere in life. As a matter of fact in the current world situation life is more stressful and anxiety provoking than earlier for many people. However, we often don’t shake or cry – at least not enough – during or after stressful situations or phases, causing stress hormones to remain “stuck” in the body, muscles, and nervous system.

The TRE®-exercises presented in the book help activate the body’s natural tremoring response easily and safely, allowing accumulated and sometimes deep tension and stress to be released. The book provides guidance on performing seven simple movements, both standing and lying down. No prior experience is required, and the practice is in the hands of the practitioner.

TRE® is a practical self-help method that can be used to support recovery from sports or to help with relaxation before sleep. It can also help relieve psychological stress, anxiety, and even trauma. However, it is important to note that the deeper the trauma being addressed, the more essential it is that TRE® serves as a complementary tool for trauma work done with a psychotherapist.

I recommend this book if you want to explore the topic further and understand why and for what purpose Dr. Berceli developed it – the story is fascinating. If you just want a quick overview, I warmly recommend this 5-minute video.
